sori sori i havent been doing a good job in updating my blog =P. there have been so many times that i started a new post but then left it hanging due to work demand( woohoo..'work demand'.. now i sound like a ceo dont i? )
ok im not gonna babble a lot. as im supposed to study anatomy for a quiz, i decided i shld tell you guys what happened this weekend. or perhaps for my first week as a medical student in UoN. ok as for the student life, initially i was so damn positive, it hurt me in the end. because why? these mat salleh are super duper confident. how confident? ok let just say, in a lecture hall where there are about 150 ppl, they endlessly raise their hand to bring up any issue or answer questions by the lecturer.its as if they are in the 800m sprint passing the baton to one another. can u just imagine? they do it volunteeringly, secara SUKA RELA.
and u know, eventho their answer is sometimes just plain bullshit( when i really think deep about it later), they make it sound so intelligent that it makes you feel that the answer (a short n simple one obviously) you had in ur mind seem so stupid. *sigh* i know i know, i should be positive but i dont know why, these ppl are making us feel so inferior ( i asked the rest of the msian and they feel they same way, so we all are definitely in the same boat). and another thing i realised during my first week is that the students especially the ones straight from school are snobbish. ok probably not all but i can guaranteee you that most of them are. now you probably be thinking " its ur fault la, tak pandai nak mix around". tolong sikit. you know what we did? most of us msian spread out in the lecture hall , we didnt sit in a cluster because we knew if we sat in a group they might feel intimidated to talk to us. but hell no! most of us sat beside mat sallehs and tried very hard to make friends with them. so yeah, they smiled and told their names when we asked, but after that, it was so difficult to engage them in a conversation, they were just not interested in knowing the international students. and guess what? these mat salleh yang duduk in kelompok! arghh geram* .
generally from our experience , we could see that the really nice ones were the mature age students( yg pernah blaja benda lain dulu or in other words lanjut usia sikit) and also the rest of the asians.
and oh ya, i made friend with this gurl named mitti, from melbourne but is of bangladeshi descendant and also happens to wear the hijab! she's talks perfect oz english and she's so nice. so the other day, i was sitting n talking to her over this issue and apparently she said she sensed the same thing. she even explain that this scenario doesnt happen in big cities like melbourne n sydney , where there are a lot of ppl from all over the world. she said since newcastle is considered a bit rural thats why these young ppl are not as welcoming and friendly.
im seriously frustrated, and this one week just gave me realisation of the reason you'll see msian sticking around with msians, chinese with chinese, or basically, international students with intnl stdnts. last time, i alwayssssss, always critized malaysian yg stick dgn msian je all the time, i was so ignorant by saying that " baik duduk msia, this defeats he purpose of being overseas". now i understand, they probably tried hard to make friends with the mat salleh like us( i hope) , but if they are not welcoming how could they go on??
but hey hey, im not saying that im gonna just stick with msian 24-7 for the next 5 years. im gonna be positive, like nik advised me to. im gonna give them time, and oh hell yeah, they might look down on me now, but im gonna earn their respect, im gonna show the world that muslim girls are not only smart, successful but cool as well! weehoo. i can feel my spirit burning.
gosh tgk, i said im gonna write a short post ni da buat karangan da, and i havent even got to the story of my weekend ( according to title). can i make point form notes?

sunday
we all duduk rumah, kononnyer nak study for our PBL work .but we ended up, baca 2-3 pages then tidur due to having to read through sentences in the super thick textbook over n over again. why cant they use simple english?
n the fact that we had to refer to the medical dictionary around 324 kali for every page doesnt help.*eik* ahhaha.
pls pls pray that i go hrough all tis smoothly. but hey hey dont worry,im not gonna give up, i will survive hey hey!
- and it was my turn to cook today. i created something new, baked spagetti with cheese. nn scramble egg n cabbage berempah, abai's recipe. hehhe. bukan saya kata, tapi mereka kata sdap! yeay! haha thank goodness i will not have to cook for the next 7days. syukur..
ps - see? i dont know how to write short notes. it will always become a long essay, n oh ya, sorry xde byk pictures, its too much of a hassle to upload, i swear it takes ages!
