Salam everyone!!
Its been ages. Seriously ages since i last wrote kan? Oh well.. I guess having started clinical years doesnt give u much time to do anything else.
Like seriously, any of the 1st till 3rd yr who says they are busy, i would slap them. Hahahha u have no idea what busy is.
Nways, alhamdulillah.. Yesterday was the last day of my medicine rotation. And its june already!! MashaAllah how times fly right? I remember being freaked out and writing so much on my blog every time Nearing the exam as i would have deactivated my fb.. N here would be the place i lepaskan my perasaan.
Ok lets talk about what has happened.
I will give a just a snapshot k? Coz im still in my stuvac week!! Exam is on 19june. Gagaggaga
-i started this yr with surgery rotation.mashaAllahhhhhh i loved surgery. I seriously did! I enjoyed every bit of it.. Except the earlier bit where my consultant would always freak me out =.= n oh my team was awesome. Had an italian surgeon, alejandro ( not his real name but he looks like an alejandro to me! Haha). He was so awesome,he is one of those that u look at n think " dudeee.. Are u a telenovela actor or something" He liked to freak me out n insult me but he was so funny..initially i hated him but he was nicer towards the end! Hehe oh gosh, mulut dia laser tahap ****. so many stories to tell!! But i promise to dedicate a post for my surgery experience k? After my exams la!
N remind me to talk about sunyo! My japanese registrar!
Hahaha funny mannn gak
Nthen i had electives - did geriatrics ( o m g, pace cam kura2...) then vascular surgery ( was alright! But gen surgery was bttr!)
And recently finished medicine.
N
Guys!
I survived my first ever long case!!!
I did it last thursday.Holycrap. Seriously that was d most intense 2 hours of my life.
Wait. Maybe u dont know what is long case. So heres the format, you are given 1 hour to talk n examine the pt, then given 15mins to write up n come up with investigations n short term n long term plan for the patient and give a list of possibilities of what could be going with the patient.
Then you have 20mins sessions with 2 specialists, who will
Listen to you and bombard you with questions.
Sounds easy.
Yes?
Hell noooooo.
Esp if u get a patient (pt) who is a bad historian, n has a complex history.
And my worst fear was that i was gonna get a renal pt. Coz its really complex to link renal stuff with other systems..
N guess what? I did.
Imagine mr JS ( i will nvr ever forget him) he was a renal transplant pt who came in due to shortness of breath n cough thats been worsening over 2 months. Then he came in about a month ago... And had like diarrhea n rectal bleeding while he was in the hospital!! Crazy right!!!! N it didnt help that he was on 20medications. Half of them were like special ones that i never heard of!!!
Gaaahhhh. And he was so bad with his story, i had to use 50minutes to talk to him and get the story right. Only used like 10mins to examine him.
And in the middle of intvw, he had to pee, nurse came to take BP, give injections,n also some ppl just had to come and give lunch. Ya Allah so challenging.
And during the session with the specialist... Gahhhh. I got the renal lecturer, DR C..( who is forever grumpy) N thank God another one was my friends dad. He was nice!
We were all shocked to get really complicated pts for this rotation.
But alhamdulillah, i passed. Miracle, seriously miracle.
I told myself the day before, regardless of what happens during long case, i enjoyed this rotation, i did practice and i leave the rest to Allah to decide whats best for me.Alhamdulillah.
At times like this i remember surah at Talaq, yang ayat seribu dinar tu.
"Barangsiapa bertakwa kepada Allah, nescaya Dia akan mengadakan baginya jalan keluar. Dan memberi rezeki kepadanya tanpa di sangka-sangka. Dan barangsiapa yang bertawakal kepada Allah, nescaya Allah akan mencukupkannya.Sesungguhnya Allah melaksanakan urusan yang dikehendakiNya. Sesungguhnya Allah telah mengadakan ketentuan bagi tiap-tiap sesuatu."
(Surah At-Thalaaq: 2 -3)
